Presentation of Lifelong Learning activities
The Department of Pharmacy promotes and supports lifelong learning activities with the aim of encouraging continuing education, professional development, and dialogue with society. These initiatives are part of the Department's mission to contribute to the cultural, scientific, and professional growth of the region by providing expertise, infrastructure, and qualified collaborations. The main activities include: Continuing Medical Education (CME), activities with schools, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), PharmaTech Academy, and Academy ITS. Through these initiatives, the Department of Pharmacy confirms its role as a point of reference for continuing education, the strengthening of professional skills, and collaboration with schools, institutions, and businesses. Lifelong Learning activities represent a bridge between universities, the local area, and the world of work, helping to spread scientific culture and innovation.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
The Department periodically organizes accredited courses and seminars as part of the national ECM program, aimed at pharmacists, doctors, biologists, and other healthcare professionals.
ECM events are designed to ensure:
- constant scientific and professional updating,
- in-depth study of emerging issues in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields,
- development of technical and cross-disciplinary skills,
- dialogue between the academic world and healthcare professionals.
Activities with Schools
The Department collaborates with local schools to offer various projects aimed at:
- introducing students to pharmaceutical disciplines,
- introducing the scientific method through dedicated laboratories,
- promoting orientation towards university courses in the pharmaceutical field (five-year and three-year courses),
- developing transferable skills and awareness of professions in the sector.
The projects include School-Work Training activities, the HORIZON-MSCA GA101162230 Project, S.T.R.E.E.T.S. "Science Technology Research for Ethical Engagement Translated in Society," experimental laboratories, guided tours, interactive lessons, and project work.

MOOC su Federica.eu
Federica Web Learning is the University Centre for innovation, experimentation, and dissemination of multimedia teaching at the University of Naples Federico II.
Its multi-platform federica.eu, a European leader in open-access multimedia education, is a digital space for lifelong learning where anyone — even those who are not enrolled in a specific degree program — can freely update their skills, satisfy their curiosity, and deepen their knowledge through innovative, high-quality university-level teaching accessible to all.
The Department of Pharmacy contributes to the dissemination of e-learning education thanks to the commitment and creativity of our teaching staff, who have accepted the challenge of supporting traditional teaching by designing and delivering MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) through the Federica.EU platform of our University. Currently, three MOOCs are available, enriching the Degrees in MOOC Format catalog on the Federica.EU platform, related to the three bachelor's degree programs offered in our educational portfolio:
- Degree in MOOC Format – Quality Control – federica.eu
- Degree in MOOC Format – Herbal Sciences and Technologies – federica.eu
- Degree in MOOC Format – Nutraceutical Sciences – federica.eu
The courses are delivered online with open access and are an excellent tool for:
- orienting students in their choice
- supporting professionals in updating their skills
- integrating study and exam preparation
- satisfying a personal desire for knowledge by exploring lesser-known topics in greater depth
All users can attend the MOOCs by registering for free on the Federica.EU platform.
The MOOCs available on Federica.EU are organized in a simple and modular way and include previews and trailers, lesson index, teaching units, textual content, video lectures, self-assessment quizzes, and links to online resources.
For each MOOC, the platform issues a certificate of participation
PharmaTech Academy
The PharmaTech Academy is a pioneering high-level training program specializing in Gene Therapy and RNA-based medicinal products, established under the framework of the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology (funded by the PNRR).
Proposed by the University of Padua (Hub) and implemented by the University of Naples Federico II as the lead Spoke for "Platforms for RNA/DNA delivery", the Academy aims to develop highly qualified professionals across the entire value chain—from discovery and preclinical research to industrial manufacturing.
Based at the Scampia University Campus and designed for Master's graduates, the program is built on three strategic pillars:
- Transversal & Soft Skills: Enhancing professional profiles for the pharmaceutical industry.
- Specialized Training: In-depth focus on the R&D and production of RNA-based drugs, including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced Labs & Innovation: Hands-on activities featuring Immersive Extended Reality (XR) to simulate complex laboratory procedures.
The educational model follows a learning-by-doing approach, where students tackle real-world industrial challenges provided by over 50 corporate partners. The program culminates in a Project Work or internship within one of the affiliated biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Academy ITS
ITS Academy
Technological Training for New Life Sciences
The Department of Pharmacy is one of the founders of the ITS Academy Foundation 'New Sciences and Technologies for Life' (SCI.TEC.VITA: https://www.scitecvita.it/). It was established in collaboration with the education system, local authorities and companies. As part of its commitment to promoting and disseminating continuing education, the department has contributed to the definition and design of two post-diploma courses:
Monitoring and Control of Toxicological Risk and Environmental Quality and Technologies and Quality Management of Products and Processes in the Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Fields.
Both courses are completely free, last two years and award a Higher Technician Diploma (EQF Level V), recognised at a European level and with University Credits (CFU). They provide advanced, specialised technical training in biotechnology, environmental science, and the chemical-pharmaceutical industry.
Training combines theoretical lessons, laboratory activities and company internships, with over 40% of hours spent in a company. This innovative teaching approach prepares students for the world of work and develops their technical skills in the pharmaceutical, food-nutraceutical and environmental toxicology sectors.
